My older brother, Rodel, has two boys named Rheydel and Zion. My younger sister, Camille, has two boys named Max and Marcus. I am an aunt of four boys. My brother’s family is in the Philippines. My mother, I and my sister’s family are residing in United States of America. My father passed away before we immigrated.
I only get to see/bond with my nephews in the Philippines when I took vacation but got to see them in facebook video or skype once in a while. However, I spend more time with my nephews in my sister side.
I decided to take my nephews to the park district to swim. My sister was working so she could not come with us. She worked night shift with that being said she need to sleep before going to work. I prepared their breakfast, feed them, changed Marcus (1 yr old) to swimming attire since Max (4-yr old) can change himself. My mother came with us, however, she does not want to swim.
Motherhood is no joke! Around of applause for all the mom who can take care of her child or children. I put the floater on Max and carry Marcus with me all the time. I was constantly checking Max wherever he go. There was a lot of people, and I don’t want to leave empty-handed in case somebody took Max plus my sister and brother-in-law will stone me to death if something happen to neither one.
I have seen Max running around and swimming. I saw the smile in his eyes. He laughed so hard and hugged me tight. I have seen Max very excited seeing me and his brother. He runs/swims towards us. I have seen Marcus wandering eyes why water was coming out of the ground, the chills when I tried to stand up carrying him to look for his brother, the smile and laugh when I tried to put him in a circle motion even when I was dizzy. Marcus held me so tight as if I will let go of him. We changed them and went home. I bathe them at home since we were close to the park. Kudos to all mother’s out there!
I wish I was a child to see things in childlike wander. Children can be happy in simplest things like buying a candy, playing a game, doing a workbook, eating ice-cream, or swimming in a park district. It makes my heart happy that I can see my nephews happy. The hugs and kisses are more than enough in return. If only we can see things in a child’s eyes, we can lessen our problems and happiness is easy to achieve…
What do you miss in your childhood?
Childhoood means simplicity….
