Family

IMG_4792I was born and raised in the Philippines. I migrated to United States of America when I was nineteen together with mama and Camille. My parents hard work resulted for us to be in middle income family. We do not have a lot, but we have enough.

My father passed away of Myocardial Infraction (MI)/ heart attack when he was 53. His demise left so much void, regret and heartache for the whole family. He was preparing us in the first place because he has been to US several times due to work, but he did not make it. My brother was in the petition as well, but because he is over 21 he didn’t make the cut. He is 24 years old when visa was approved, and his not dependent anymore. We need to leave him in the Philippines.

We have culture shock because Philippines is different from United States of America in terms of language, season, way of living, food, work and government. It will be in a different blog though.

I missed my brother because I learned so many things for the family (driving, car repairs, setting up appliances, moving and etc) because he is not with us. Distance teaches us to be independent, to persevere and work hard for us to be able to see each other, and to treasure memories and moments. My siblings got married and have children of their own. The last time our family was complete was 6 years ago.

I have a very strong family despite all the trials, sickness and pain. They are the reasons why I’m still alive. The constant reminder that God loves me because He put me in the family that listens, supports, and shower me with so much love. I am looking forward for this coming December that we can all go to the Philippines and be with my brother and his family. It is our first time to travel together, go home, and have a mini reunion.

What do you love about your family?

THE LOVE OF A FAMILY IS LIFE’S GREATEST BLESSINGS.
